ואתיעט דוד עם רבני אלפיא ומאותא לכל סרכן:
srkn lkl wmawtha alpya rbny em dwd wathyeT
David consulted with the captains of thousands and of hundreds, even with every leader.

ואמר דוד לכל קהלא דישראל אין קדמיכון שפיר ומן קדם יי אלהנא אית רעוא נתקף ונשדר מטול אחנא דאשתירון בכל ארעתא דישראל ועמהון כהניא ולואי בקרוי פרויליהון ויתכנשון לותנא:
lwthna wythknshwn prwylyhwn bqrwy wlway khnya wemhwn dyshral aretha bkl dashthyrwn akhna mTwl wnshdr nthqp rewa ayth alhna yy qdm wmn shpyr qdmykwn ayn dyshral qhla lkl dwd wamr
David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is of Yahweh our God, let’s send word everywhere to our brothers who are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have pasture lands, that they may gather themselves to us.

ונחזור ית ארונא דאלהנא לותנא ארום לא תבענא יתיה ביומי דשאול:
dshawl bywmy ythyh thbena la arwm lwthna dalhna arwna yth wnkhzwr
Also, let’s bring the ark of our God back to us again, for we didn’t seek it in the days of Saul.”

ואמרו כל קהלא למעבד כדין ארום תקין פתגמא קדם כל עמא:
ema kl qdm pthgma thqyn arwm kdyn lmebd qhla kl wamrw
All the assembly said that they would do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

וכנש דוד ית כל ישראל מן נילוס דמצרים עד מעלן לאנטוכיא לאעלאה ית ארונא דיי מן קרית יערים:
yerym qryth mn dyy arwna yth laelah lanTwkya meln ed dmtsrym nylws mn yshral kl yth dwd wknsh
So David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor River of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, to bring God’s ark from Kiriath Jearim.

וסליק דוד וכל ישראל לבעלה לקרית יערים לאעלאה ית ארונא דיי הוא יי די שכנתיה שרא לעיל מן כרוביא דאתקרי שמיה עלוהי:
elwhy shmyh dathqry krwbya mn leyl shra shknthyh dy yy hwa dyy arwna yth laelah yerym lqryth lbelh yshral wkl dwd wslyq
David went up with all Israel to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath Jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from there God Yahweh’s ark that sits above the cherubim, that is called by the Name.

ואחיתו ית ארונא בעגלתא חדתא מן בית אבינדב ועזא ואחיו מדברין בעגלתא:
begltha mdbryn wakhyw weza abyndb byth mn khdtha begltha arwna yth wakhythw
They carried God’s ark on a new cart, and brought it out of Abinadab’s house; and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.

ודוד וכל ישראל משבחין קדם יי בכל תוקפא בשירין ובכנרין ובנבלין ובתפין ובצלצלין ובחצוצרתא:
wbkhtswtsrtha wbtsltslyn wbthpyn wbnblyn wbknryn bshyryn thwqpa bkl yy qdm mshbkhyn yshral wkl wdwd
David and all Israel played before God with all their might, even with songs, with harps, with stringed instruments, with tambourines, with cymbals, and with trumpets.

ואתו עד אתר מתקן ואושיט עזא ית ידיה למיחד ית ארונא ארום מרגוהי תוריא:
thwrya mrgwhy arwm arwna yth lmykhd ydyh yth eza wawshyT mthqn athr ed wathw
When they came to Chidon’s threshing floor, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled.

ותקיף רוגזא דיי בעזא ומחהי מטול דאושיט ידיה על ארונא ומית תמן קדם יי:
yy qdm thmn wmyth arwna el ydyh dawshyT mTwl wmkhhy beza dyy rwgza wthqyp
Yahweh’s anger burned against Uzza, and he struck him because he put his hand on the ark; and he died there before God.

ותקיף לדוד ארום תרע יי תרעתא בעזא וקרא לאתרא ההוא אתר דמית ביה עזא עד יומא הדין:
hdyn ywma ed eza byh dmyth athr hhwa lathra wqra beza thretha yy thre arwm ldwd wthqyp
David was displeased, because Yahweh had broken out against Uzza. He called that place Perez Uzza, to this day.

ודחיל דוד מן קדם יי ביומא ההוא למימר איכדין אעיל לותי ית ארונא דיי:
dyy arwna yth lwthy aeyl aykdyn lmymr hhwa bywma yy qdm mn dwd wdkhyl
David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How can I bring God’s ark home to me?”

ולא אפני דוד ית ארונא לותיה לקרתא דדוד ואפניה לבית עובד אדום גתאה:
gthah adwm ewbd lbyth wapnyh ddwd lqrtha lwthyh arwna yth dwd apny wla
So David didn’t move the ark with him into David’s city, but carried it aside into Obed-Edom the Gittite’s house.

ואשתהי ארונא דיי לות עובד אדום בביתיה תלתא ירחין ובריך מימרא דיי ית עובד אדום בבנין ובני בנין דאתעברת אתתיה ותמניא כלתיה וילידן תמניא תמניא בכריסא חד עד דאשתכחו ביני אבהן ובנין ביום חד תמנין וחד וית כל דיליה בריך ואסגי עד לחדא:
lkhda ed wasgy bryk dylyh kl wyth wkhd thmnyn khd bywm wbnyn abhn byny dashthkkhw ed khd bkrysa thmnya thmnya wylydn klthyh wthmnya aththyh dathebrth bnyn wbny bbnyn adwm ewbd yth dyy mymra wbryk yrkhyn thltha bbythyh adwm ewbd lwth dyy arwna washthhy
God’s ark remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months; and Yahweh blessed Obed-Edom’s house and all that he had.
